Herding Puppy School

Do you have a herding puppy with dreams of becoming a sheepdog?

Learn all the foundation work so you're ready to start herding!

​

Covers farm familiarization (routine farm equipment), socialization with farm animals (horses, goats, sheep, cows, chickens, ducks etc), basic obedience, whistle training, off-leash + leash walking, and instinct testing!

​​

Held outside, on our farm, maximum 6 per class.

Intended for puppies 14 weeks - 8 months

Sessions are held closer to sunset on our farm in Millarville, Alberta

Includes up to 3 pets from the same family (additional pets are $20 each)

60-90 minutes on location

About Bethany

Beth and her border collies are a familiar scene at the farm. During art school she bought home her first collie, Abbey, and for the past 14 years she has been furthering her knowledge through books, online tuition and in-person sheepherding clinics.

The safety of all people, pets, and livestock are of utmost importance to us. However, to take part in any classes or sessions held on our farm we require a release of liability and agreement to follow the conditions.

 

Participants must keep their dog under direct control at all times (on a leash). Understand that participating in Herding can be unpredictable and dangerous, and exposes dogs and people to injury for which the participant is solely responsible for. Woolly Meadows/Bethany Harris (including our volunteers and property) is released from any and all liability if I or my dog(s) suffer personal injury and/or my property suffers physical damage. I will take no legal action against any of the above persons or establishments upon injury to myself, a family member, my dog, or damage to my property. I am solely responsible for any personal injury and/or property damage incurred by others and caused by me or my dog, including injury or death to livestock. The replacement cost of the livestock used will be: Sheep $700.00 ea. Goats $300 ea Ducks $40 ea I will promptly reimburse any party that sustains personal injury and/or property damage caused by me or my dog. In addition, I will indemnify and hold harmless Woolly Meadows/Bethany Harris (including volunteers) from any cause of action brought by others against them caused by the actions of me or my dog. I declare that I am the legal owner of the dog attending and that my dog is in good health, including being current on rabies, distemper, parvo and parainfluenza immunizations. I am participating in this at my own risk and have disclosed any physical or mental health concerns that may influence mine/my dog's participation. I understand that classes are held outdoors, and that this exposes me and my dog to natural elements (I am responsible for dressing/preparing accordingly).
